Hill Robinson announced as sponsors of the Riviera Racing Team for Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2024

Leading yacht management company Hill Robinson and the Riviera Racing Team from The University of Cambridge have announced an exciting partnership for the highly anticipated Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2024. Through this sponsorship, Hill Robinson reinforces their dedication to nurturing emerging talent in the marine industry.

About the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, hosted by the prestigious Yacht Club de Monaco, stands globally recognised as a hub for pioneering concepts in alternative energy sources for the marine leisure industry. Throughout this week-long event, participants showcase their zero-emission innovations through a series of thrilling challenges, captivating an audience of key industry figures.

This challenge has emerged as a standout event on the maritime calendar, drawing support from prominent entities like Credit Suisse, BMW, and SBM Offshore. Noteworthy industry players, including Ferretti, Sanlorenzo, Oceanco, Monaco Marine, and Palumbo SY Refit, consistently endorse the event, underscoring the commitment of well-established companies to advancing sustainability in yachting.

The Riviera Racing Team Mission

Established last January with an ambitious objective of crafting a hydrogen-fueled boat, the Riviera Racing Team hailing from the University of Cambridge has devoted the past 11 months to refining and testing their groundbreaking design. Drawing inspiration from aerofoils, the team's catamaran aspires to elevate itself above the water's surface, featuring integrated solar panels and a custom electric pod co-designed with Pulling-e.

Founded in 2000 by Nick Hill and Niall Robinson, Hill Robinson operates 13 global offices, including Monaco, and boasts a workforce of over 250 individuals worldwide, solidifying its position as a premier management company in the yachting sector. The company offers specialised management services covering all facets of yacht management and operation.

The company's sponsorship of the Riviera Racing team underscores its dedication to supporting the initiatives of young and emerging talent in yachting. It also reflects their acknowledgment of the industry's evolution toward sustainable practices.

Parvathy Sunil Mattappilly of Riviera Racing spoke of their excitement regarding the sponsorship, stating: “We are honoured to have Hill Robinson’s support, which has been an invaluable asset to the Riviera Racing family. We are excited to work together over the coming months on our shared aims of promoting a sustainable maritime future. #lovethesea

Educated at Girton College Cambridge University, Nick Hill said being able to support his old university felt like coming full circle: "There are many reasons why supporting this project feels like a good fit. The Hill Robinson team enjoys championing young people as they start in the sector, but we are also heavily involved in yacht build and refit projects ourselves, so keen to support projects which are good for the environment and for the yachting industry as a whole."

"But more than that, we have always led from the front and the yachting industry is evolving fast with new technology, solar panels and hydrogen now part of hybrid propulsion systems. New designs from the major shipyards fully embrace this and we are seeing plum bows, larger deck space, windows, and quiet propulsion being priorities.”

"As one of the competition sponsors, we look forward to witnessing and being part of such an amazing competition that brings together motivated and intelligent enthusiasts at the world's most incredible yacht club," he added.
